Grab your popcorn and kick up your feet. We’re diving into summer with an epic online event to showcase powerful stories from filmmakers across the country. The PBS Short Film Festival begins July 10, and you can join us right from home as we celebrate the power of storytelling through this year’s films.
The Webby Award-winning PBS Short Film Festival elevates the reach and visibility of independent filmmakers from across the country. Since its inception in 2012, hundreds of films celebrating love, acceptance, family, strength, equality, friendship, loyalty, and more have been presented under the festival’s banner. The 2023 festival features “Stories in bloom” to highlight the impact of powerful storytelling.
The festival website includes a viewing party kit and a behind-the-scenes blog where the filmmakers share the inspiration behind their stories, the process that goes into the production of their films, new projects, and more. The viewing party kit is packed with mouthwatering recipes from PBS Food, discussion questions, and more, to help you host your own viewing party.

Starting at midnight on Monday, July 10, audiences can watch and share all 25 films. In addition, a panel of five jury members will select their favorite film of the festival for the Juried Prize.
The PBS Short Film Festival will be available on the PBS App, Facebook, and YouTube. You will find categories to help guide your viewing selections: family, identity, culture, humanity, race, and inspiration.
It runs through July 21.
