Travel to Yucatán, Mexico, for an all-new season of Pati’s Mexican Table, beginning Saturday, September 16, at 11 am on Nine PBS. Chef, author, and award-winning host Pati Jinich embarks upon an exciting journey, where each dish serves as a point of departure into Mexico’s rich history and culture.
She heads back to southeastern Mexico for a deeper exploration of the storied state of Yucatán. With a culture rooted in Mayan heritage, she travels around the state to meet the cooks, artisans, and families carrying on their traditions. In the vibrant capital, Mérida, she learns how ancient Mayan techniques merged with Spanish influences over the centuries to create a world-class cuisine.
Dive into Yucatán Food Culture
In this season, Pati invites viewers to take a deep dive into Yucatan where she explores pink salt harvesting in Las Coloradas, the colonial food and drink of the Haciendas, the legends behind cenotes or deep-water holes, the history behind ancient ruins, and the foods that have been passed down by the Maya. Back at home, Pati shows viewers how to bring all these ingredients and flavors into their own kitchens.
