We say a bittersweet goodbye to Richard (Dick) Skalski, Nine PBS’s senior vice president, chief financial and operations officer. Dick announced his retirement effective September 14, 2021. His hope is to spend more time with his wife of 45 years, Shirley, his seven children and 10 grandchildren, and many friends. He’ll be traveling throughout the country, especially to the Boston area where he was born, raised, and attended school. Dick has been instrumental in Nine PBS’s day-to-day operations and ensuring the organization’s financial health for 21 years. He was instrumental in leading efforts to secure financing for some of Nine PBS’s capital and expansion projects over the years, including completion of the Public Media Commons in 2014. More recently, he helped secure the financing for the acquisition of property for Nine PBS’s parking needs and the expansion of its footprint in the Grand Center Arts District. Dick’s talents and good nature will be missed by the staff and board at Nine PBS.
