If you drive down Kerth Road in South County, you might notice some spooky residents.
Meet Tim and Hannah Pauk’s skeleton crew. These not-so-scary skeletons change clothes and poses every day to fit a different theme.
“It’s strictly just for fun,” Tim said. “People drive down the street. They smile, they honk, and it’s worth it.”
On October 12, the theme was “Roaring Twenties.” The skeletons wore flapper dresses or hats and mustaches. Hannah says the costumes were repurposed from her grandma’s 95th birthday party.
The skeletons have already donned theme costumes like luau, Cardinals baseball, and ballet. They will continue to change costumes every day until the end of the month.
It all began in October 2020, when Tim and Hannah Pauk found themselves bored and isolated during the pandemic.
The Pauks said they wanted to create something fun that the whole neighborhood could enjoy.
“I feel like, throughout doing this, there’s been more of a sense of community,” Hannah said. “And we just enjoy doing it for that.”
After last October, the Pauks started dressing up the skeletons for other holidays, too, like the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and even the Summer Olympics.
The Pauks are already preparing for Thanksgiving and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
“As long as people keep enjoying it, we’re gonna keep doing it,” Hannah said.
