January/February 2025 Issue

New from Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. comes a four-part docuseries, Great Migrations: A People on the Move. Learn how 20th-century Black migration from the South to the North significantly shaped the fabric of our biggest cities, our industries, our music, our food, our politics, and so much more.

The epic migration of people began in the late 19th century when it was clear that the early promises of Reconstruction would not be fulfilled and accelerated as the new century progressed.

Also in this issue: new Nine PBS digital series on YouTube, produced with you in mind. These series are on the Nine PBS YouTube channel; please subscribe to the channel while you are there.

The magazine also includes content highlights, including what’s new on the PBS app with Nine PBS Passport. Watch international dramas and entire seasons of select series (like All Creatures Great and Small and Miss Scarlet) before broadcast when you become a member and activate PBS Passport. Please note: The national broadcast schedule sometimes changes after printing the magazine. The best way to keep up to date with the schedule is by checking your television’s on-screen guide, going to our online schedule, or reading our weekly Nine PBS Highlights e-newsletter.
