St. Louis, MO—February 20, 2025—This week, Nine PBS welcomed Leah Freeman as Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. Freeman will be responsible for communications and branding for the organization, helping grow support and engage audiences by developing and leading integrated communication and marketing strategies and multi-platform marketing efforts.
Freeman brings 12 years of experience in nonprofit communications and leadership, most recently serving over seven years leading marketing and external relations at LaunchCode, a national workforce development nonprofit. Prior to that, she served as public information specialist at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, where she managed media relations, social media, and communications strategy. She holds a BA in public relations from Murray State University and an MA in media communications from Webster University.

Freeman assumes the role from Vicki Boutwell, who served as Interim Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer since last July. Boutwell will take on the new position of Interim Vice President and Chief Planning Officer, focusing on strategic planning and special projects.
