St. Louis, MO—June 3, 2024—This past weekend, the Nine PBS team brought home a first-place win in Best Special Program or Public Affairs at the Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards. The win recognized Power of the Pitch, a special that explored professional sports in St. Louis and London as a catalyst for social transformation, positive change, and development efforts in disinvested neighborhoods.

Power of the Pitch was a truly special project for our station and community,” said Aja Williams, Vice President and Chief Content Officer, Nine PBS. “It’s a perfect example of the kind of work our team is doing every day, bringing St. Louis stories that inform, inspire, and make this region stronger. It’s wonderful to see our team getting recognized, especially Anne-Marie Berger, Veronica Mohesky, and Aaron Landgraf, who led the work on this project.”

The MBA Awards are presented at a banquet during the annual convention. Around 900 entries are submitted from members and awards are given for First Place and Second Place.

Nine PBS also congratulates Wendy Wiese on her 2024 induction into the Missouri Broadcasters Hall of Fame. The Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame was created to salute broadcast leadership throughout the state of Missouri. It recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the fields of radio and television broadcasting. Wiese has been a broadcaster for 40 years, including time at KTRS, KMOX, and over 20 years as a panelist on Nine PBS’s public affairs show, Donnybrook
