The brand refresh includes a new logo, new colors, and an updated format which includes a mix of preproduced segments and in-studio interviews.
St. Louis, MO—January 9, 2023—Nine PBS today revealed a new look and feel for its longstanding, Emmy-winning show Living St. Louis in celebration of its 20th season on the air. The show, which has produced more than 600 episodes and won more than 30 Emmy Awards, is the flagship content brand for Nine PBS local storytelling.
In addition to an updated visual identity that includes brighter colors and a sleek new logo, the show is taking a multiplatform media approach to reach audiences where and how they consume content. The rebooted brand will prioritize digital through web/mobile-only content, broadcast/digital integration, and cross-platform impact initiatives.
The heart of Living St. Louis will remain intact as the show maintains a focus on the stories of the people and organizations that make St. Louis, St. Louis. To provide viewers with the best possible experience, Vice President and Chief Content Officer Aja Williams says the show has transitioned to a studio-style magazine show filmed live to tape: “Living St. Louis builds community pride and provides a space for lifelong learning. Our team is excited to share the same diverse, high-quality stories showcasing the people, places, and things that make up St. Louis, now with an emphasis on multichannel content.”
The refreshed format includes a mix of preproduced segments and in-studio interviews filmed in a new set inside Nine PBS. Engagement segments call on viewers to share feedback on social media that could be featured in a future episode. Those segments are led by Member and Viewer Experience Manager Ernmardia Crowder who hopes to strengthen viewers’ connections to the show, saying “We want the communities that make up St. Louis to be part of our show.”
Nine PBS is celebrating the 20th season of Living St. Louis with a campaign that looks to both the past and future. Producers Jim Kirchherr, Ruth Ezell, and Anne-Marie Berger—who have been with the show since the beginning—reflect on their journey in a series of testimonials that will air on Nine PBS and be available for viewing via the PBS app on any smart device. Producer Brooke Butler joins them in a billboard ad drivers may notice throughout the St. Louis region. More activities will be announced throughout the year.
"Nine PBS is consistently rated one of the most-watched member stations in the country, and now the Living St. Louis team is bringing their award-winning content to even more viewers through streaming and dynamic digital content,” stated Amy Shaw, President and CEO of Nine PBS. “Living St. Louis exemplifies the community-centered journalism that has earned PBS and its member stations public trust.”
Living St. Louis airs Mondays at 7:00 pm CST and is available for streaming via YouTube. In January, Living St. Louis welcomes guests St. Louis City Soccer Club, Kitty Ratcliffe of Explore St. Louis, and the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, among others. From earthquakes to the USS St. Louis to Jennifer Lewis’ illustrious career, this season’s viewers are in for a treat.
